Promoting Well-Being in Young People Through Creative & Mindful Connection

“You’ll find you are capable of things you never dreamed of, if you give yourself a chance to stretch beyond the idea of yourself that you’ve always known.”

“NoahzSpace is going to be a charity in honour of my son, Noah’s, memory. Our hope is to offer workshops and projects, mainly for young people, learning skills that empower and support well-being through creative and mindful pursuits”.

Noah’s Story

In May 2020, at the age of 23, my son, Noah, was diagnosed with leukaemia. It came out of the blue, devastating his future hopes and dreams. He had just handed in his notice as a Calibration Engineer to pursue a career more suited to his creative talents and abilities. As an amazingly gifted artist, he was just starting to focus upon building a future around using these skills. He was also just entering in to a new relationship.

Over a period of two years, we fought an intense and fraught battle to save his life. Noah chose both conventional and alternative avenues to fight his illness. He endured extensive chemo treatments, lumber punctures and then a bone marrow transplant.  After finishing treatments, he hoped to begin the arduous 4-5 year expected journey into recovery but developed secondary brain cancer some six months later. He died at home, age 25, in January 2022.

Noah’s Own Creative & Spiritual Journey

Meditation & Nature Connection

Noah was used to me taking time out to meditate in my bedroom or in our garden when he was as a child. We also lived in a rural village and he grew up spending much of his time outside with friends. As a teen, I often dragged him out for a walk to remind him of life beyond the computer!  Later on, he would go out alone and walk to clear his head.  I knew he found peace, like many of us, just being in nature.

Doing Healing

During his treatment, he asked me to teach him tools for meditation and we would practice inside and outside, in the garden and up the woods. He used this connection to help cope with pain management, grounding his anxiety and fear and facing the unimaginable.

His own spiritual journey is a personal one but he seemed to meet each challenge with humility and grace and self-respect. His journey had a lasting effect on all those around him which has been far reaching and I hope, will continue into building his legacy, NoahzSpace.

Noah loved drawing from the moment he could pick up a pencil!  His early years were deeply inspired by his love of Pokemon and his early drawings show his talent.  Although discouraged by the education system’s approach to art, the few wonderful drawings he did produce show where his calling lay. He also studied and enjoyed photography.

Some of Noah’s work will be available as limited edition prints, cards and merchandise to support our projects and will be available on the NoahzSpace website as soon as we secure funding.

Present & Future Goals

Noah found a way to express himself through creativity and found much peace in nature connection. It therefore feels fitting to honour his life by starting this charity offering inspiration to other young people.

The aim will be to provide opportunities, primarily for young adults, to explore tools for developing self-expression and self-awareness through creative and mindful practices to support mental, physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.  These will include free and subsidised projects that include creative writing, movement, meditation, nature connection, drumming, voice work, poetry and artistic exploration.

Community events will be held for fund raising to include all ages and abilities and my dream would be that one day we have a physical building, land or a NoahzSpace Centre.

Getting Started

Initially we will start a NoahzSpace Go Fund Me which lists what we need to begin. The charity application status takes time and planning, with finding Trustees and setting up. But as it is more likely to be granted with solid roots and projects already running.

Our long term goals are for the following:-

  1. NoahZspace Mobile – A van kitted out to take to festivals, community centres, schools wherever we can offer free and subsidised projects. A vehicle that also will carry drums and kit for workshops and what’s needed for recording podcast interviews on the road.
  2. NoahzSpace Podcast – A means to promote our cause by establishing a platform for chatting with those who have been on their own spiritual and creative journeys and who wish to share their stories and experience, strength and wisdom to inspire others.
  3. The NoahzSpace Website – A virtual space offering information on all the above as well as access to free regular short meditations to inspire connection with nature and to strengthen your connection to higher self, inner wisdom and peace. Plus we will have a Shop selling merchandise, limited edition prints and cards inspired by Noah’s work.
  4. On-going – Community Events for fundraising to support our work, plus NoahzSpace Retreat Days for self-healing through creative and soulful means.
  5. Future Dreaming – Manifesting a building, some land, a NoahzSpace Centre for hosting all the above and more!
